The Immaculate Conception Catholic church
at South Suntreso in Kumasi has launched its 60th anniversary with
the theme, “60 years of Existence, Providing Christian Services in the light of
the New Evangelization”. The yearlong anniversary celebrations will be climaxed
on the 20th of December with a special mass. At a mass to mark Palm
Sunday during which the anniversary celebrations were launched, the Parish
Priest, Reverend Father Peter Osei Amoateng said 60 years in the life of a
human being or institution is a great achievement. It is therefore worthwhile
for the church to celebrate such an occasion. He said the church would use the
celebrations to evaluate its journey so far in the society with the view to
improving its impact on humanity. Later in an interview with GBC’s Garden City
Radio, the Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Dr. Robert Sagoe
said a project will soon be set up by the church that will take care of members
who are incapacitated in appreciation for their dedicated commitment to the
growth of the church. He said the church would continue to provide its social,
education and religious projects for the good of the society.
