PARLIAMENT VETS MINISTERS

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will today begin the vetting of persons who were recently nominated by President John Dramani Mahama for ministerial and deputy Ministerial positions.

In today’s vetting, two of the nominees for ministerial ranks will appear before the Committee to answer questions relating to their eligibility and capabilities to handle their respective designated ministries.

They are Alexander Percival Segbefia who has been nominated for the Ministry of Health and Peter Anarfi-Mensah for Ashanti region. Mr. Segbefia, a former Deputy Chief of Staff from 2009 to 2013 and until his nomination, was the Deputy Minister of Defence.

On his part, the Ashanti Regional Minister-designate, Peter Anarfi-Mensah is currently the Headmaster of the Tepa Senior High School and also the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Conference of Assisted Secondary Schools, CHASS.

His nomination follows the dismissal from office, the substantive Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong and his deputy, Joseph Yamin a few months ago. The Appointments Committee will continue the vetting tomorrow when three persons nominated for Deputy Ministerial positions appear before it.

They are Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Deputy Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Yaw Adusei, Works and Housing and Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, deputy minister-designate for the Ministry of Defence.
