DEALING WITH CORRUPTION

Panelists on GBC’s Garden City Radio Super Morning Flight have emphasized the need for all Ghanaians to actualize the regular rhetoric of avoiding corrupt practices by desisting from the act in all their engagements.

According to the Head Pastor of the Oforikrom Society of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Reverend Kingsley Sarfo Kwarteng, church leaders can only advise against the act of corruption based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, but the greater responsibility lies with the individual to be self-disciplined and exude integrity in their endeavors.

He maintained that corruption is endemic in sub-Saharan Africa due to poverty and the need for people to survive by all means.  Rev. Kwarteng therefore urged leaders especially those serving in various positions of trust in the country to lead the fight against the canker.

Ameer Shaibu Abdul Malik of the Muslim Mobile Preachers Association for his part reminded Muslims to live by the principles of Islam which frowns on corruption, adding that it has negative consequences on the economic development of the country.
